http://www.sdbmagazine.com/news/news.asp?ID=9236

Automated Records Management Systems (A.R.M.S.) <http://www.arms4rim.com> , De Pere, Wis., has joined the Wisconsin Health Information Management Association (WHIMA) <http://www.whima.org>  in an effort to meet the changing needs of health care facilities.

According to estimates, just 8 percent of the nation’s 5,000 hospitals and 17 percent of its 800,000 physicians currently use a common computerized record-keeping system. The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, passed as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, is designed to increase the use of electronic medical records (EMRs).

“Transferring health records to electronic format is a major undertaking for our country, and many of our health care facilities need assistance in finding a solution that will work best for them as well as making sure they are complying with rules and regulations in place,” says Eric Haas, president of A.R.M.S. “By joining WHIMA, we’ll be able to offer our current and future clients additional services. In addition, WHIMA offers frequent training sessions, so our customers can be assured our staff are informed as soon as a new regulation is put into place.”
